Grassy earthworks of the island's first European settlement, across the harbour from Charlottetown.
Port-la-Joye was the French capital of Île Saint-Jean before the British built Fort Amherst on the same headland in 1758. Today it is a peaceful Parks Canada site with earthworks, self-guided trails, and one of the best views back onto Charlottetown Harbour.
